The Painted Dog Company Vision.
Over 25 years of flying the world as cabin crew, the seed of an idea had been growing.
I had always loved searching the artisan markets of India, Africa and Australia for gifts to give to friends and family, and a handmade cup or basket could frequently be found in my suitcase. I enjoyed going to craft fairs when I was home too, seeking out unique handmade items, and I knew that there was a wealth of artisan talent in the UK.
My vision was to curate a small collection of unique handcrafted products for home, self and hound, which were all made in the UK, with eco-friendly packaging. Things to LOVE – not just things.
Losing my job in 2020, gave me the perfect opportunity to bring my vision to life, and so the journey began. Together with my firefighter husband Gareth, and our Border Terrier Thandi, we are Painted Dog Company.
The Brand.
I have been lucky enough to indulge my lifelong passion for the natural world and wildlife during many trips to the African bush, and my favourite animal, the Painted Dog, (or African Wild Dog), seemed the perfect choice of name for our new venture.
As for our logo, the image of a dog looking up at a star is a nod to a beloved hound, gone but not forgotten.
We hope to grow and evolve as a lifestyle brand, adding new products to inspire and excite you, whilst staying true to our values. Kindness and care for each other, ourselves, and the planet, is essential to our well-being, and we are determined that this will be reflected in our journey.
